Unlike most European capitals, London is a sprawling city with plenty of green spaces in between. This loose structure has permitted the building of golf courses within the city limits, such as Hampton Court Palace Golf Club, on the ground of the famous castle, and the three Royal's - Royal Wimbledon Golf Club, Royal Mid Surrey Golf Club in Kew Gardens and Royal Blackheath Golf Club, the first club established outside Scotland back in 1608. The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, a mere thirty miles west of London, boast an impressive collection of first class golf courses distributed between the famous Wentworth Golf Club, Sunningdale Golf Club and The Berkshire Golf Club.
